Cover designed by Marian Zazeela, who also appears in nearly half the photographs. The concluding portrait photograph of Smith below the Brooklyn Bridge taken by filmmaker Ken Jacobs. One of 140 (of 200) copies. Images made largely during the course of a long session at Smith’s Lower East Side apartment before shooting began on FLAMING CREATURES. First published in an edition of 200, the number of copies produced was likely significantly lower than that, given that the edition was entirely hand-assembled, in somewhat chaotic circumstances.
